WINGS #06-26 Birthkeeping: midwives secure birthing mothers' human rights in remote areas and disaster zones.
Ibu Robin Lim is a Filipino-Micronesian-American Certified Professional midwife, whose passion is Human Rights in Childbirth. Her nonprofit organization based in Indonesia is called Bumi Sehat. Her knowledge and influence are extensive. This program is based on audio extracted from her video presentation* about the techniques her organization uses to provide safe and appropriate birthing for women in remote areas, even under the most distressing disruptions of normal life, due to weather and other factors. Creating a sense of safety and appropriate mother/child bonding are fundamental to their methods. She also explains why the placenta cord should not be cut before the blood in it returns to the baby's body.
